Delete a portfolio
Deactivating or resetting a portfolio can be undone. Deleting it can't: the portfolio and everything recorded under it are removed for good. Use it for duplicates, test portfolios and clients who have left.
Delete a portfolio
- First deactivate the portfolio from its page (Status box). Only inactive portfolios can be deleted.
- Open Delete portfolios from the top menu and choose the portfolio.
- Read the preview: every kind of record and how many will go, such as 412 trades and 38 dividends.
- Type the portfolio code to confirm, add a reason, and click Delete permanently.
What goes and what stays
| Deleted | Kept |
|---|---|
| Trades, dividends, F&O trades, contract notes, upload errors, corporate actions applied, custom scrips and actions, reset history, its place in families, and the portfolio itself. | The Activity log, including a record of the delete; the family; the portfolio's own login, which is deactivated rather than deleted. |
Everything is deleted in one step: if anything blocks it, nothing is deleted and the message says why. Every delete is listed at the bottom of the page with who did it, when and the reason.
- The portfolio isn't in the list
- It is still active. Deactivate it first.
- I only want to start the trades again
- Use Reset portfolio instead: it can be undone.
