Corporate actions

Where in the app
Trades > Corporate actions
Who can use it
  • Firms (Firm Admin)
  • Family Head
  • Own portfolio login

Lists every bonus, split, consolidation, demerger, merger and dividend that applies to what a portfolio held, and works out exactly what each adds from the portfolio's own holding. Tick and apply; undo any time.

Apply corporate actions

  1. Open Trades > Corporate actions, or click Review and apply on a portfolio's yellow notice.
  2. Pick a portfolio, a whole family, or All my portfolios.
  3. Look over the rows. Each shows the ex-date, the action, the holding the day before, and what will be added.
  4. Click Apply ticked or Apply all suggested.

What gets added

ActionExample
Bonus+100 bonus shares (100 → 200), dated the allotment date; held from that date.
Split / consolidation150 → 750 shares (5:1). Cost and purchase dates don't change.
Demerger+750 shares of the new company; the cost % announced for the demerger moves from the parent. If no cost % is known, a box asks for it.
Merger750 old → 1,125 new (3:2), with the whole cost and purchase dates carried over.
Dividend₹750 (150 × ₹5) as dividend income on the payment date, TDS 0. Change TDS on the Income tab if tax was deducted.

Only actions on a scrip held at the end of the day before the ex-date are listed. Fractions of a share are dropped.

Rows that aren't ticked

⚠ Already entered by hand
A similar bonus, split or dividend was typed in near that date. It stays unticked so nothing is counted twice. Apply it only if the earlier entry is something else.
A demerger or merger asks for the company received, the ratio or the cost %
The exchanges often announce these as a "Scheme of Arrangement" or "Amalgamation" without the details. Click Complete the demerger on the row, enter the new company, the ratio and the cost % from the company's announcement, then apply. Ask your firm if you don't have the figures.
A problem is shown
For example a missing ratio, a merger without the new company, or less than one share. Enter the missing value, or leave it.

Not applicable hides a row for that portfolio, for example a dividend that was never received.

Tabs

  • Applied: what was applied, what it added and who did it. Undo one, or Undo batch for everything applied in the same click.
  • Not applicable: rows you hid, with undo.
  • Custom actions: + Custom action adds an action that isn't in the list, for one portfolio only (bonus, split, consolidation, demerger, merger, dividend). Edit or remove it until it is applied.

Good to know

  • Corporate actions are listed from 2014 onwards, including companies that have since merged, been renamed or delisted. If one you expect is missing, write to [email protected] with the company and the date.
  • Rights issues, buybacks and open offers are not applied automatically, because they depend on whether the client took part. Enter them as trades (IPO / Rights, or Sell).
  • If you apply a split without the earlier bonus, the split works on the holding without the bonus. Apply in date order.
  • An action on a company that only arrives through a demerger or merger shows up after that one is applied.
  • Deleting a corporate action row on the Trades page makes the action pending again by itself.

On the free plan, corporate actions are not applied for you: enter a bonus, split, demerger or merger yourself on Trades.
